Halloween 2009

Justin being the oldest son gets the benefit of getting a new Halloween outfit and Dylan not knowing any better and being the youngest gets the hand me downs. Every year Justin enjoys Halloween more and more. Dylan is slowly, but surely catching on. This year Justin dressed up as Luke Skywalker X-Wing fighter pilot. Kids have the coolest Halloween outfits now. The only way I could of dressed like Justin is if my Mom made me a custom made outfit. Thanks to China and fabrication every kid can dress up to be almost anything for a reasonable price. Here is Justin proudly posing for the camera with his Halloween outfit. Here is Justin and Dylan posing. Dylan is dressed up as Buzz Lightyear. As you can tell in the picture Dylan is pretty ecstatic and really enjoying being dressed up with his brother. It's moments like this that my memory tries to hold on to the images of my sons knowing that they are fleeting and should be cherished. God has blessed me with two truly beautiful boys. I love you Justin and Dylan forever. I wish I could keep you guys just the way you are right now.

The Cub Scouts, A Pumpkin, And A Tent.

One of the things that Justin has become involved in this year is the Cub Scouts. During the first Den meeting the Pack was asking someone to step up and take on the role of Den Leader. No one wanted to take on that role, but someone had to...so Nancy volunteered herself and me of course to be Den Leaders in Justin's Tiger Den. Nancy did not realize what she got us into, but it has been a challenging experience with moments of pleasure. The two of us actually make a good team...Nancy does more of the behind scenes stuff...administrative stuff...and I initiate and follow through with the tasks.

This Cubscout camping trip was full of activities throughout the day to keep all these rascals busy. Here is Justin waiting to try out archery. Here is Justin holding his bow. Here is Justin trying out the wooden tomahawks. Here are some pics of Justin partaking in the activities and hanging out with fellow Cubscout River who he really enjoys hanging out with. Here is Justin and River posing for a pic with River's Dad Louis. They had a pumpkin carving station that day and here are the results of their work. Justin's pumpkin is the one on the far right in front. Here is the final sunset of our last day at the campgrounds.

A Little Trip To San Diego

One of Nancy's closest college friends recently got married in San Diego. These days the trend is to have weddings where you are not supposed to bring kids because they cause so much ruckus. Luckily, this was not one of the weddings. So, we decided to make this wedding trip a little family 1 day vacation. The wedding was an evening event and we decided that we would stay the night and hang out and check out Old Town San Diego for the afternoon. Here are just a few pictures I was able to capture. It was a pleasant afternoon overall. The face of angels. I really do love these guys. With Nancy's hectic schedule and my weekends always being taken because of my job these are far and few moments that we need to appreciate. I hope our sons remember these times and lock them into their memory banks somewhere.

A Sunday With Dad and Some Cars

One of the things I try to do when time works out is take my sons out to see and experience things that I might not have done as a kid because of growing up in a traditional Korean household. On September 20th, 2009 I took the boys out to a Classic Car Show that was happening around South Pasadena. At the car show they had some famous car replicas for display. Obviously, the boys are toooooo young to even realize what these cars are, but I thought it would be cool to take pictures of them in front of them. The first one is the Bat Mobile from the original Batman television show. The second one is the car from Starsky and Hutch and in the background the General from the Dukes of Hazard. Lastly, is the car from the television show Hart to Hart.I think the boys had a pretty fun time checking out the cars. Both of them love Hot Wheels. I thought it would be cool for them to enjoy the real things.

1st Grade and the Future

September 1st, 2009 was the first day of school for 1st grade for Justin. Unfortunately, for Justin none of his close buddies were moved into his class, but the good thing was Justin transitioned and adjusted very well. Here are just a few pics of that day. I can't help but get a little teary eyed when I realize that my 1st born is growing up and will no longer be that little baby that we brought into this world. They really do grow up quickly.

Trying To Catch Up (July and August)

Alright...Nancy and I have been horrible at keeping our blog updated. Our camera broke down and I have not had the time to get it serviced. I have been taking random photos with my iPhone, but I have been horrible about downloading them onto my computer. I finally downloaded the pictures off of my iPhone and I will do my best to get all of you up to par.

During the summer Justin took swimming classes again hoping to get it down this year. Unfortunately, he did not...but Dylan enjoyed goofing around with his brother's swim goggles. These were taken around July 6th, 2009. Here is Justin posing for a picture at the mall playground. Our kids get their haircuts generally at a professional Korean hair salon. Both Justin and Dylan go to my hairstylist. Here is Dylan getting a haircut July 25th, 2009. He hates getting haircuts, but he is good and stays still. Here is a clip of Justin making paper snowflakes and Dylan just being mischievous cutting for the sake of cutting.

August 3rd, 2009...I took the boys on a Father and Sons trip up to the Bay Area to visit my family. On one of the days I took the boys to the California Academy of Sciences for an educational outing. Warning...taking 2 boys by yourself to a public place for the whole day can shorten your life by a year or two. Especially, if you are dumb enough like me to forget to bring a stroller for the kids to sit and rest when they get tired. I ended up carrying Dylan around with me for the latter half of the day. Most of the pictures are of Justin...Dylan wasn't in a photo taking mode that day. Here is Justin in front of the California Academy of Sciences. Here is Justin noticing a huge catfish while posing for a picture. Here is Justin posing outside in the garden area. The California Academy of Sciences has a garden on the roof of the building called the "Living Roof"...it is quite an amazing feat. Alright, I'm getting tired...so I will continue September and October on another night soon. I'll finish with this parting last shot of the view from my sister's balcony in South San Francisco. What a great view huh?

Justin the Photographer

Nothing really interesting worth documenting has happened recently to blog about. So I thought I would post some of Justin's pictures from his camera. This past Christmas Justin received a Fisher Price digital camera to encourage his artistic side. He has been taking pictures since then, but like most digital photos they have been in limbo inside the camera. I was finally able to download the photos onto my computer. Here are photos from the perspective of a 5 year old kid.

The first set of pictures are of the evening when he received his camera and the succession of the days we stayed at my parents house.
The next set of pictures are of Justin and I going to the bank.
There are a lot more pics, but I will start with these and show his other pics as times go by. It's always interesting to see the world from a kid's perspective. The world looks different from 4'3'' and with fresh eyes that are not jaded.
