Spring Break

When I was in school Spring Break was a great time. Now as an adult with 2 kids Spring Break means more work and definitely not a time of rest. It means having to have to keep a 5 year old entertained for 1 week all day long. Because Nancy is soooo busy with tax season this year with staff being cut we were not able to go on a long family trip. Instead we had to compromise and do a one day trip to Legoland this past Sunday. This was the second time to Carlsbad for us. The first time we had taken Justin to Legoland he was about 18 months old. One of Nancy's friends who also has 2 boys was able to join us this time. We left Los Angeles around 8:30am and made our way to Carlsbad to Legoland. Legoland opens at 10:00am. We arrived in Legoland around 9:50am and met up with her friend's family and the day began. Here is Justin posing with a Lego Darth Vader. Here is Dylan and I posing with a Lego Bob the Builder. Here is Justin getting ready to ride one of the Lego rides. One of the good things for Justin this time around at Legoland is that he is older and has more options to ride more rides. He pretty much hit the height requirements for all the rides. Here is Nancy and Justin getting ready to ride. Here is Justin posing with his friends Logan and Brendan on some Lego statues. The good thing about Legoland is that almost everywhere if waiting is involved there is an area for kids to play Legos while the parents stand in line. Even the areas where lunch is served there are Lego tables set up to keep kids occupied while parents finish their meals. Here are the kids taking advantage of one of those tables. Here is Nancy and Justin about to ride a little roller coaster. The funny thing Nancy was sharing with me was that Justin said, "Don't be afraid...I'll take care of you Mommy." Then Nancy said, "Don't worry Justin...Mommy will take care of you." Turns out they both screamed like little babies. Here is another shot of Nancy and Justin. Justin's friend Brendan and his father Don are behind them. Here are the kids doing a little window shopping. A final shot of them all dressed up and posing as the Knights of Legoland. Here are some random pics. Here is Don and his sons' Logan and Brendan. And here we are crashing into them. The kids had a really good time at this interactive walk through where they had to find colored keys. It had a Indiana Jones feel to it. Here are some pics of the kids posing in front of the keys they found. Here are the kids at another Lego station building while us parents got a little well deserved rest. Here I am posing with Justin in front of my Lego creation. Like many I grew up building Legos and I am still a proficient Lego builder. At one time Justin said that he wanted to grow up to be a Nascar driver. Here he is having a go at it. Here are some last shots before we left. I love the very last photo. It is almost like looking at the Three Stooges. You have to remember that the kids posed like this on there own. I guess that is what makes this last picture so cool.
