Happy Chinese New Years

So recently Justin's Chinese school celebrated Chinese New Year by having a Chinese New Year Festival and performance this past January 31st. The Chinese do not really celebrate January 1st as the New Year, but instead celebrated January 29, 2009 as the real New Year. It's always a cool thing when we are able to share our cultures to our children. Justin had the opportunity to dress in traditional Chinese garb. I'm sure my In-Laws in Taiwan will get a really good kick out of seeing Justin in the traditional Chinese clothe. We even had a hat with a little pony tail called a Que, but Justin's head was too big to fit into it. Probably did not fit into it because he has my big Korean head. Here is Justin in his traditional Chinese clothe at the entrance of the festival posing in front of some Chinese lanterns. He looks like a Chinese Prince. Here is Justin posing with his Nancy. Here is Justin posing with one of his class mates. And here he is posing with his Chinese teacher. Here is a pic of Dylan being Dylan. So because Justin is taking Chinese classes at this school his class had to perform for the festival. Justin had to play something that looked like one of those Asian cymbals that goes "bong". Here is his class on stage performing. Here is Justin getting ready to play his instrument. Here is a little clip of the show.

Here is Justin posing with another one of his classmates. This kid is half American and half Chinese. His Chinese mother is really strict, but it has paid off. He speaks fluent Mandarin. We can only hope that Justin will eventually learn to speak Chinese as well as this kid. I also have my work cut out to get Justin to learn Korean. Diligence is the key. Lucky for Asians...we are born with diligence.
