Some of you might have seen my commercial, some of you might have not, and most likely you might have seen it but didn't know it was me. So here it is. Careful...if you blink you might miss me.
Welcome to John and Nancy's Blog. We will gab about the niks and naks of our life...especially and most likely about our two boys Justin and Dylan since they consume our daily life. I hope all our family and friends enjoy our blog and read it to feel connected to our ever changing family.

This past Sunday we went together to a pumpkin patch to search for our Halloween pumpkin. We went to a pumpkin patch located in the Beverly Hills/Hollywood area. It cost $8 for adults to get in and $2 for kids...the ticket cost is then applied towards your purchase of a pumpkin. This was a capitalistic pumpkin patch because sodas were $2, bouncing in a jumper for 5 measly minutes cost $3, riding a pony was $5, face painting was $4, and I'm sure the other activities cost just as much if not more... luckily we were able to get our pumpkin and leave with the shirts on our back. You could easily blow $40 per kid if you stayed for an hour or two. Anyways...we took along Custo...Justin's friend that day. He had spent the night over. Here is Custo on the pony and if you look carefully you can see Justin in the background. Custo just woke up from a nap in the car, hence the "I'm not really feeling this pony thing right now" look. Justin named his horse "Silver"...I don't remember ever telling him about the Lone Ranger nor do I think he has ever seen anything related to it, but that was the name he came up with.Justin on the other hand was soooo loving his experience riding the pony. He was smiling the whole time.
Recently, my friend Laurel came over for a visit. I met Laurel during summer school at UCLA. She has been a great friend over the years. She was not able to attend Dylan's birthday...so she wanted to stop by to give Dylan a present. She gave Dylan a Halloween pajama. Laurel is a Halloween baby and so this is an appropriate gift from her. Here is the two of them posing and showing off his new PJs.
The relationship between siblings is an interesting thing. You fight, but you love. As Dylan becomes older he gets into Justin's things more and more. Everyday you see Dylan running after his brother and everyday you see Justin trying to get away. I hear everyday "Dylan go away...Dylan you are no fun anymore...Dylan I don't like you anymore"...yet everyday if I let Dylan down to walk on his own down the hallway or let him walk outside...you hear, "Daddy, pick up Dylan cuz he is going to get lost" and you see Justin go over to his brother and hold his hand or Justin picking up his brother so he cannot get to far away. I'll then ask him if he loves his brother and he will reply with a big, "Yes." I only hope that this is a sign that I have been doing a good job to teach Justin to love his brother and to take care of him for the rest of his life. I always tell him that he is the hyung (older brother) and he is the keeper of his younger brother.
Nancy and I are at that age where all our friends are starting to follow suit and getting hitched. So we are becoming ever so busy on the weekends these days attending weddings. This past weekend we had to attend two weddings. The first wedding was in San Pedro at 3pm. This was her UCI friend Janelle's wedding. This was my first Catholic wedding and let me tell you...Catholic weddings are LONG. I've been to some long winded Korean weddings, but Catholic weddings take the cake. I do have to say Catholic weddings look pretty nice though because their churches are generally prettier. Unfortunately, we had to leave immediately and was unable to attend Janelle's reception because we then had to drive to Irvine immediately to catch the 2nd wedding at 5pm. Nancy and I were so hungry after the 1st wedding we decided to make a pit stop at Jack In The Box. We went nuts...we ordered a sampler trio, 7 piece jalapeno poppers, large curly fries, and large Diet Coke. We killed it all before we got to Irvine. I thought we might be 15 minutes late, but we pretty much made it. The 2nd wedding was her friend Julie. Nancy had met Julie when she used to do her summer internships at Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles during her law school days. This wedding was short and sweet. Thank goodness. It had humor and some tears...even I got a little wispy eyed. Maybe the tears were of joy because the wedding was short...hahaha...just kidding. I know Julie a little bit so I guess the wedding was more personal to me. So as soon as the wedding was over Tu and I hit the open bar and started drinking. Tu is the husband of Kim who is also a LAFLA friend. I missed Tu and Kim's wedding due to my work schedule and I really didn't get to hang out with them too much at Dylan's birthday because there were just too many people to attend to. This was the first time I really got to hang out with Tu and I have to say I really enjoyed his company. It's a good thing when you can hang with your wife's friend's husbands because sometimes you meet ones that you just can't relate to and you have force yourself to small talk with them. Here is Sara, Nancy, and Kim(Tu's wife). All friends from LAFLA. This one is of Haily, Jennifer, and Nancy. Haily is also a LAFLA friend. Lastly, the groom and bride (Andrew and Julie) and us. Gees...Nancy and I were soooo stuffed after this reception. My back started to ache...I'm pretty sure this was due to my over eating. I have to pace myself better. We have many more weddings to go so I better eat less or else I'm going to become a Wedding Fatty. We wished we could of stayed longer, but we needed to get back and pick up our kids from the baby sitter. 2 weddings down and many many more to go.
I really enjoy living Downtown and one of the reasons is that there are a lot of things to do if you know how to look for them. For example, we get a downtown publication and in the back it tells us what kind of things are coming up. Recently I took my boys to the Grand Avenue Festival which highlights some restaurants and local venues around downtown. They do free concerts at the Disney Music Hall, free tours of the MOCA, and open door policy of other places around Grand Avenue that you would normally have to pay to get in. Unfortunately, I only took two pictures that day, but here they are. They are both of Justin playing at an activity booth for kids. The booth was set up for kids to build a city.
