1st Day of Kindergarten for Justin

Alright...long time no type. We recently moved to South Pasadena so that Justin could continue his school years in a good school district. It was a hectic move. Nancy blew out her back a week before the move, I would have to work in the evening the day of the move, and we had a week to get Justin ready for Kindergarten. I would have taken pictures of our moving day and documented it, but I had worked the night before...slept only 2 hours...so I was pretty retarded and the last thing I had on my mind was taking pictures. Another reason I took so long to post is because we had to go through hell to get our Internet up and running, but that is another story in itself.

So a month later I am finally able to blog Justin's first day of Kindergarten. It takes us about 7 minutes to drive to his elementary school. You then have to park your car on the neighborhood streets and walk to class. The first thing you learn is if you don't want to rack up a HUGE parking ticket fund for the South Pasadena policeman's ball is that you MUST...let me emphasize MUST curb your wheels when you park on any hills. I personally think that the South Pasadena Police make about 70% of their income by ticketing people for not curbing their wheels. It is now instinct for me like putting on my seat belt to curb my wheels on any hills. Back to Justin...here is Justin walking on the sidewalk a couple 100 feet away from his school. Here is Justin standing in front of the school. We were one of the first ones to arrive. Dylan insisted that he wear his backpack like his big brother. Backpack is one of the new words he likes to say on a regular basis.Justin took this time to get himself acclimated. Here is Justin trying out the hop scotch ground.Justin's kindergarten class starts at 8:05am. As we neared that time more and more kids and parents began to filter towards the outside of the classroom. For me personally, Justin starting Kindergarten is a big deal because he is beginning his 17 year...maybe more...scholarly journey. On the other hand because we have already gone through the first day of daycare and preschool before...it didn't seem like such a big deal. What really made me realize that this was a momentous day was watching how other parents reacted on this day. Many of the kids had both parents if not grandparents come to school with them. Also many many pictures were taken that day. You might think that this was an Academy Award's red carpet event with all the flashes that were popped off. Here is Justin waiting to get into his classroom. Here is Justin walking into his classroom. He was so ready to start. Before I knew it...he was telling me to go and saying bye. I actually had to stop him so that I could give him and a hug and feel comforted about letting him go. Here he is posing with his teacher. His Kindergarten teacher is Mrs. Grosser. It turns out that we got the best Kindergarten teacher. Here are some pics of Justin and Dylan sitting around the classroom waiting for the teacher to kick out us parents and get the first day started. One of Justin's biggest concerns that he shared with me was that he was afraid that he wasn't going to make any new friends. I guess having moved 3 times in his 5 years of life has unconsciously effected him. On the other hand he is also pretty good at adjusting to new situations. I'm happy to say that he has 4 main friends that he plays with at school. As much as I am sad to see my 1st born growing up...I am more proud. I love this little guy.
